Position Summary
Develops and maintains P&ID's, loop drawings, electrical one line
diagrams, wiring and layout drawings, installation details, and
other drawings required for the operation of Valero refinery
systems. Produces accurate and complete designs, reviews and
verifies equipment layout, and bill of materials. Develops +/-10%
cost estimates and detailed written scope of work documents.
Manages computer database of CAD files. Updates and/or creates
drawings and documents to reflect Management of Change processes.
Maintains CAD files and supports ongoing document review for
projects on an as needed basis. Working knowledge of National
Codes and Standards for electrical design such as NEMA, IEEE, NFPA,
and OSHA. Performs field work required for design, including
obtaining field dimensions, field verification of existing
drawings, and provides technical assistance to field construction
as required. Field work will be in an operating refinery and can
be 25% to 50% of your time. Field work will include but is not
limited to bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, walking
and kneeling. Duties may require climbing in elevated areas while
donning fall protection equipment.
Requirements
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
Associate's degree preferred. Specialization in Computer Aided
Drafting & Design Technology preferred. Expertise in AutoCAD
required. Minimum three years experience in Computer Aided design
with a primary focus in instrumentation and electrical layout and
design required. Knowledge of petroleum products and industry
terminology required. Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in
Microsoft products required. Strong analytical and technical
evaluation and writing skills required. Ability to coordinate
effectively and with other personnel, corporate departments, as
well as, with external contractors required. Ability to follow
instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form required.
