DUTIES OF POSITION:
-Maintain hardware and software operations on plant servers, networks, and
mainframe (Alpha/VAX) - this should include developing a written plan for
systems maintenance
-Design and develop changes to existing systems, these changes may be as defined
by users or as needed for maintenance of normal operations
-Communicate with users and various levels of management to resolve system
problems, report on status of IT department, assist in defining projects,
justifying projects and plans, ensure coordination between the plant and central
functions, etc...
-Develop and maintain a process for accepting requested changes to existing
systems and prioritizing these changes with appropriate management consultation
-Ensure a well-defined long-term strategy is in place that management supports
and understands for plant servers, networks, and mainframe systems
Education
Computer Science or relevant experience, and experience as a programmer on
large-frame computers or servers with two of the four years experience in
manufacturing applications; or Associate's degree in Computer Science or a
related field, and six years experience in manufacturing applications
Know-How:
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work without direct
supervision. Ability to work with users, effectively and efficiently, to
understand and meet their system requirements. Excellent disposition needed to
gain collaboration and agreement from users and peers.
xperience in analysis, designing, developing, and implementing system
applications. Two years experience utilizing personal computer's software (word
processors, spreadsheets, databases, etc.) and hardware.
PROBLEM SOLVING:
-Ability in project planning and control, in order to be responsible for heading
up new software applications.
-Analyze and create solutions for users to meet their programming needs, based
on current applications or the need for new applications. This includes taking
new technologies that are currently on the market and adapting them to fit our
needs.
-Plan and organize installation of new software applications or upgrades to old
software applications.
-Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly involving system software
and/or hardware with minimal disruption of services.
- Ability to use SQL and dot net applications

The incumbent has access to confidential and sensitive data and is responsible
for assuring the integrity and security of classified information.
