Supports Maintenance by performing a variety of Mechanical trade functions for a 24-hour chemical demilitarization operation including the installation, maintenance, or repair on facility mechanical equipment, including equipment located in limited and chemical exclusion areas. Interprets designs, drawings, layouts, instructions, and specifications in compliance with the TOCDF specifications and industry standards. Performs corrective and preventive maintenance tasks in every area or room in the plant as necessary to support the Maintenance Branch and plant operational requirements.

Incumbent must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent + 4 years experience in a crafts trade and specialized education or Vo-Tech training, military, or apprenticeship. In addition, the incumbent must be able to demonstrate good technical knowledge of plant and system processes. The incumbent must possess knowledge of functional systems interactions and must be able to pay attention to critical elements in a complex and regulated environment.

Must be able to acknowledge and respond to flashing lights and sirens and be able to don a protective mask and evacuate up to 2 miles in an expeditious manner.

This position is unique; it requires enrollment in the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP).

In order to be eligible for enrollment in the CPRP, the government will conduct a comprehensive background investigation on each candidate. Some of the items that they look for which could potentially cause elimination from consideration for the CPRP are:

· A criminal record, to include arrests and convictions
· Alcohol abuse or dependence or any alcohol-related offenses
· Use of illegal drugs or misuse of legal drugs
· United States Citizenship
· Financial issues, especially bankruptcy or debts in arrears, but also failure to meet
alimony or child support obligations
· Participation in hypnosis
· Attempted suicide
· Serious or progressive illness
· Evidence of negligence, delinquency or poor performance in prior jobs

The ability to qualify for and remain qualified for enrollment in the CPRP is a condition of employment. If a candidate does not qualify or remain qualified, they may not hold the position and may be terminated from employment.
