Our client, a world leader in electronic components, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer with a primary focus of leading, planning, coordinating, conducting and supervising the activities of new product development teams. In addition, this position will provide engineering support for existing products, including redesigns for technical enhancements, improved performance, quality and reliability, as well as increased profitability.

DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical Senior Project Engineer duties may
include, but are not limited to:

Apply
general knowledge of marketing, engineering, quality and manufacturing to the
design, development and production of new products to achieve sustained growth
and profitability.

Manage global development teams of multiple disciplines in a concurrent
engineering environment for accelerated product introductions.
-
Direct all engineering activities related to the design, development and
qualification of new products, including process evaluations, to meet or exceed
project objectives.
-
From
product inception to product release, utilize MS Project or similar programs to
keep development projects on schedule to the establish performance criteria,
cost targets and timelines. Estimate manpower needs to complete projects within
defined time schedules.

Apply
all appropriate product design, quality and production tools/techniques (3D CAD,
SPC, DOE, DFM FMEA and Six Sigma Initiatives) to achieve world-class product
status. Modify designs, as required, to overcome adverse performance results
identified by product validation testing.

Work
with and manage suppliers and manufacturing facilities to ensure timely project
completion dates with Six Sigma processes and targeted performance and cost
objectives.

Identify and introduce new materials, processes and technologies for both new
and existing products. Advise others in the Engineering Department of any such
materials and equipment that may have application for existing and/or future
products.

Keep
abreast of product trends and developments, particularly related to competitive
offerings.
BACKGROUND AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Specific
knowledge and experience in the following areas is highly desirable:
Thick
film on ceramic and/or thin film on silicon substrates.
Contacts
and contacting systems for electromechanical components.
Lead
attachments such as parallel gap, ultrasonic or laser welding to ceramics.
Precision, miniature plastic molding of high-temperature plastics.
Precision
miniature mechanisms, fabrications and automatic, hi-speed assembly.
Industry
standards, including MIL-Specs, EIA, ISO 9000 / TS 16949, etc.
Other Position
Requirements:
-
BSEE/ME
or Materials Science degree. MS degree is preferred.

5 8
years of Project Engr. experience, with demonstrated capability to design,
develop and successfully release to manufacturing new, technically complex
products.
-
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to guide and influence others.
-
Experience with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to
efficiently conduct design reviews and other meetings.
-
Ability to travel 25% of working time.
Compensation and Benefits:
Base Salary - $70k to $80k (depending on experience).
