The University of Michigan Ann Arbor Central Power Plant is seeking an

The Central Power Plant is a 48.5 MW combined cycle cogeneration steam plant
providing thermal and electrical energy to the Central and Medical Campuses of

Responsibilities:
Will provide safe, reliable, environmentally compliant, efficient, and
economical repair of equipment and the periodic maintenance program through
proper planning and utilization of all available resources for the generation
of electricity and/or steam. Oversee and supervise the planned mechanical and
electrical maintenance and repair functions of all equipment including
boilers, motors, pumps, steam turbines, gas turbines, generators, auxiliaries,
as well as supervise asbestos abatement, house cleaning and glove bag
projects. Manage, coordinate, and expedite the planning, procurement, and flow
of materials and supplies for maintenance work. Handle multiple assignments
and render sound business decisions. Ensure employees perform work in a safe,
environmentally compliant, and productive manner. Ensure that work permits are
obtained and make sure that work is performed safely and within procedural
compliance. Review routine maintenance requirements to determine what
improvement measures are needed for effective and reliable operations. Develop
personnel to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity by instructing,
motivating, counseling, and utilizing appropriate training. Monitor the O&M
(operations and maintenance) annual budget and tracking monthly. Submit
annually the proposed maintenance budget.
