We have a plastic sleeve web machine in our facility. It is approx. 50 years old but works great to this day. There is a roller powered by a 2 hp DC motor with a DC drive board that is quite old ( probably beyond 15 years) and another die head motor that is 5hp DC motor with a DC drive board that is about 10 years old. We are upgrading this machine and would like to change the above drives out but unsure at this point which to go with AC drives and motors with feedback or switch to servos. Not sure what the advantages or disadvantages are to each. Basically these motors spin at a constant speed while running product, no fast starting/stopping. One other note is that the main barrel screw ( 40 hp DC motor and drive) failed about a year ago and we replaced with a new ac motor and drive and that has been plenty accurate enough for this portion of the system. Thanks for the help
