Spire 5F271B1L3 FalconRock I

Details of Spire 5F271B1L3 FalconRock I

Fanner is a name that is no stranger to the world of CPU cooling solutions. Marketing a wide range of coolers under different brands including Speeze and Spire, they have a reputation of producing budget level coolers that perform quite well on today's high heat producing CPUs.

The Spire 5F271B1L3 FalconRock I Socket A/370 Cooler is a socket-based cooler, compatible with both Intel socket 370 and AMD socket 462 configurations. This cooler is the exact same as the Spire 5F263 we reviewed way earlier, with the exception of two improvements on the 5F271B1L3:

  • 3 prong clip
  • Copper slug embedded into the base

The base came protected by a plastic cover, with a square of pre-applied white thermal paste, which was easily removed. The base isn't very shiny, though it is quite flat and smooth. The machining marks on the base are noticeable, though can't felt by dragging my fingernails across the base. The cooper slug is embedded very well, with no noticeable separation between the copper and aluminium.

The fan was quite unique, IMO, as it is silverish in color on the outside. The fan frame is made of aluminium however, and not the fan blades which are plain black plastic. The fan is a 0.08A fan, which means it's pretty low powered and quiet, though pumping a rated 30cfm of air only. The fan's power connector is of the 3-pin variety, which also has an RPM sensing wire. The fan spins at roughly 2800rpm on average.
