Spanish investigators of the University Polytechnic of Cartagena, have realized an equipped robotico finger of a sophisticated mechanism that confers the sense of the tact. Thanks to a particular polymer the robot succeeds to perceive the weight of a glare object being modified the energy amount that is necessary in order to move it.
In order to put to point the robotico finger, the investigators are leave themselves from "an intelligent" polymer, the polipirrolo that electrical worker expands itself in answer to the intensity and leads proportionally to the pressure changes. The conversion of the variations of shape of the polymer in motion happens with the aid of two thin films of polipirrolo fixed in both sides of an insulating plastic tape. In order to obtain the curving, to ognuna of the two films it has been applied respective loads positive and one negative.
In the moment in which the finger robot it meets an object, it moves it. During the movement the polymer is compressed proportionally to the weight of the object, while the voltage, necessary in order to make to bend the finger, is proporziona them to the pressure.
