|
A process of converting (pulling down) PAL images shot at 24 frames per second (fps), such as those in a movie, to 50-fps video signals, such as those in a TV broadcast. By converting each frame to two fields, 24 frames are converted to 50 fields. Another definitions A 2:2 Pulldown is performed to convert 24fps film to 50Hz video (PAL territories). Each frame is simply mapped as two fields and the video is sped up from 24fps to 25fps (telecine machine is sped up), making it 4% faster than normal, cutting the duration of a an hour of video by almost two and a half minutes. Afterwards, the audio is often resampled to restore the original pitch, which is affected by the process. 2:2 pull-down converts film footage to PAL & SECAM video. It works in the same manner as 3:2 pull-down for NTSC video. One of the difference of PAL & SECAM to NTSC is they are shot at different rates of frames per second.
