About Company

The Envelope Manufacturers Association (EMA) was formed in 1933. The purpose of EMA is: 1. To share knowledge of envelope manufacturing among the Association. 2. To produce programs to improve manufacturing efficiency. 3. To minimize the negative impact of government regulations and other activities in the business of envelope manufacturing. The EMA implements this purpose through four major program areas: Reports and Information The Association offers eight major operating reports including Composite Volume and Orders Received,Recycling Materials Price Report, Occupational Safety Performance Report, Capacity Report, Benchmarking Study, Composite Financial Ratios Report, Compensation Study and the Outlook for Envelopes. In addition, the association offers a bi-monthly Management Information Briefing to its members. Education The Association offers two major meetings a year, a third technical conference and numerous other technical and management workshops which are offered on an ad-hoc basis. Additionally, the Association provides a significant array of in-plant training programs to include: RA and 527 Adjuster Training, five safety programs, one Inspector/Operator Training program. A Customer Service Guide to the Fundamentals of Envelope Manufacturing, an Arts and Science of Die Cutting program, a Supervisor training program and a variety of other smaller training programs and tutorials. The association also offers two certification programs: a Certified Postal Partner program and a Halm Jet Operators program in conjunction with Halm Industries. Representation The EMA has been actively involved in Postal Affairs matters for over 30 years. In fact, the Association has worked with the Postal Service from 1914 to the present. This involvement has included founding membership on the Mailer's Technical Advisory Committee of the Postal Service, and frequent participation in hearing and other technical groups which meet on revising Postal Service regulations. The association has also expanded its efforts in public affairs. Specifically related to monitoring legislation which restricts the volume of advertising mail, authorizing competition of the Government with the private sector, established unreasonable environmental compliance requirements and other legislation deemed by the Public Affairs Committee of EMA to detrimentally effect the interest of the industry. Networking Given that EMA is the only major trade association representing the interest of envelope manufacturers, EMA meetings and events become forums to allow members to share ideas and to discuss market trends and directions. Members are required to maintain the highest standard of ethical conduct in these discussions and the Association has a very strict antitrust compliance program which these members must follow during the course of EMA meetings and other educational events. EMA now celebrates over 70 years of service to the Envelope Manufacturing Industry. The Association is fortunate in having a dedicated cadre of members who continue to serve as leaders and strongly support the activities of the Association.
