BRETMAR TRANSMISSION COMPANY LIMITED was established in 1978 to market V-belts and associated power transmission products. PETER-BTR of Hanau, Germany became the first overseas supplier of V-Belts and the first stock order arrived in New Zealand in February 1979. With a sole agency agreement in place Bretmar then successfully sold the full range of high quality PETER V-Belts until the German company was taken over by POWER TRANSMISSIONS STRONGBELT-GBMH in 1995. This new company based in Gutersloh offers every type and size of V-Belt available in the world today. BRETMAR, since 1995 has been successful in selling these products throughout New Zealand. Roller Chain was then added to Bretmar's product range and many overseas chains were landed to test for customer approval. Eventually EK brand chain from ENUMA CHAIN CO of Japan proved totally acceptable in the New Zealand market in both range and quality. Special chains from WIPPERMAN of Germany and EWART of England are sourced annually. Cheaper chains from MCC of Taiwan are also available ex-stock. Bearings came next in 1980 and today BRETMAR is the largest independent stockist of bearings in SOUTH AUCKLAND New Zealand. Brands either stocked or sourced both locally and internationally are: Nachi, Timken, A&S, CBF, DKF, URB, INA, Torrington, McGill, Steyr, Fag, Bower, SKF, NSK, NTN, Asahi, KBC, KIB, IKO, ASK, RBC, SNR, & Koyo. Associated products held in our Papakura warehouse included the following: RENOLD & FENNER couplings, Bondloc adhesives, Industrial hoses & couplings, NAK Oil Seals, NORMA hoseclips, PARKER pneumatic valves & fittings. Bretmar has successfully obtained the New Zealand agency for HUCO Multi-beam & flexible couplings from HUCO ENGINEERING INDUSTRIES of England. In 2004 Bretmar has become the sole NZ agent for Bondloc UK Ltd stocking their full range of Cyanoacrylic & Anaerobic Adhesives & Sealants.
