About Company

The Department of Manufacturing Engineering and Management (IPL) at the Technical University of Denmark offers education to engineers of bachelor and master degrees as well as Ph.d. candidates and business researchers and conducts research work at an international level within manufacturing engineering and management in support of the development of industry and society in general. Manufacturing Engineering and Management concentrates on three large focus areas: Materials and Process Technology, Industrial Management as well as Innovation and Sustainability. Focus is also on some selected common issues within micro-technological production and know-how production (being formulated). Materials and Process Technology deals with engineering materials and their processing seen in relation to the demand of industry at long and short term. Industrial Management focuses on the development and operation of production systems including the supply of services covering technical control, working life, management, organisation and economy. Innovation and Sustainability focuses on innovative processes, sustainable development, design and innovation as well as technology, environment and society, also contributing to management, organisation and economy. Micro-technological manufacturing (Micro/Nano Manufacturing) deals with developing the industrial production basis for micro components and products of metal, plastics and ceramics. IPL employs (march 2002) - 47,5 permanently employed scientific personnel (incl. 10 professor posts) - 32 scientific personnel employed for research work - 53 technical/administrative employees (including 19 in the Production Workshop) - 45 Ph.d. students - 100 students working on 1st year of their Master's Thesis Project - 4000 enrolled on courses every year
