About Company

Prelonic Technologies GmbH (Linz, Austria) has developed fully functional application demonstrators manufactured by printing processes. The demonstrators integrate simple logic circuits with batteries and displays.

The combination of printed logic circuits, batteries and displays in one device is a world's first, claims by Prelonic CEO Friedrich Eibensteiner.

The challenge for printable electronics is to integrate such devices into arrays of printable elements. According to Eibensteiner the manufacturing processes typically used for flip-chip packages are not useful for printed electronics since they are too slow and not tuned to the needs of printing processes. "There must only be one interface between silicon and printed circuits", Eibensteiner said "and the aspects of bonding and contacting need to be treated separately."

To be able to develop products and prototypes as well as to produce products, prelonic had to acquire processing equipment. Since prelonic is dedicated to mass production we also focused on scaling aspects.

Prelonic already filed patents and will also in the future drive a reasonable but active patent strategy.
