We grew out of Grassi, Compagnoni e Silvestrin (GCS), which began producing bookbinding and board converting machines, paper cutters, roller washers, paper folders and other machinery in 1947, fulfilling a demand which had, like many in the post-war period, been left open. In 1970 the partners parted ways and Mr. Alfredo Grassi set up business in a small workshop of his own. His business really began to take off when he saw that the board converting industry was in need of a machine that would pair sheets of paper, to eliminate the need to glue sheets together by hand. This was a stroke of genius, and the first Grassi machine was but the first step on the road to development of new automatic machines that made the production of boxes and containers quick and easy. Our company is now one of the most important, most dependable manufacturers of sheet laminating machines, window patching machines and folder gluers equipment for compact and corrugated cardboard. On the domestic and foreign markets alike we aim to specialise and continue our research into new solutions; responding quickly to the demands of the market with a high quality product is the basis of my philosophy for maintaining our success. We can¹t always compete with the big multinationals when it comes to standard production, but the board converting industry is continually developing and needs sophisticated customised solutions, and this is where Grassi comes in with the special complex machinery it designs and produces.
