About Company

Seaboard was established in 1939. Frank Niedringhaus and his 2 sons Chuck and Wilford began their trade in the envelope industry in the nineteen twenties and thirties as machine adjustors and printers. The time came when the family decided to utilize their abilities to start something of their own. In 1939 the family moved to Los Angeles, rented a small apartment, purchased a small building for business, a few small envelope machines and began the 3 man team that they named Seaboard Envelope. Before they knew it they were mass producing commercial style envelopes as the commodity item. At that time most of the business was through word of mouth. They gained accounts little by little and maintained good relationships for many years. In fact, Seaboard has a few customers still placing orders for as long as Seaboard has been in business, that is almost 65 years! Seaboards' motto "Makers of Quality Envelopes Since 1939" is simple yet so true, the quality has always been the best and will remain that way. There are no shortcuts to obtaining quality in product and in service. The key to organizing such a company is the employees. The Niedringhaus Family has always treated their employees as their most valued asset. Wilford Niedringhaus always made it a point to greet all of the employees, currently 30, every single morning with a hand shake, a smile, or a pat on the back and a hello. It was the employees that made Wilford most happy, they were his second family. Sadly, Wilford Niedringhaus passed away of natural causes at age 93 in January 2004. He lived a long life and is an icon in the envelope industry, and will be very missed by his whole family which includes his two sons, Ron and Richard who own and operate the company, his grandchildren and his family that make up Seaboard.. Seaboard is now conducting business in Irwindale in a 70,000 sq ft building built in 1988 because the 20,000 sq. ft building locatedin Los Angeles did not accomodate their business growth at the time. The newest building addition, just finished in June of 2005, a 70,000 sq. ft facility attatched to the back of the existing structure is a spacious warehouse that is projected to sustain growth opportunities in the future. Seaboard operates one 8 hour shift Monday through Friday. Seaboard Envelope takes great pride in their work and remains a company that produces a quality product, and has a reputable image in the envelope and printing industry.
