Qmax, The journey of success Qmax was founded by two electronics engineers, Mr. S.R. Sabapathi and Mr. Robert Ng , in May 1992 with a dream to develop Qmax as the No.1 Company in the global market in the field of Automated Test Equipment for populated PCB test and semi-con test industry. S.R.Sabapathi , an Electronics Engineering graduate from India, specialized in chip level troubleshooting of complex digital and analog PCBs in Bush India Limited and Patni Computer Systems, Mumbai, and later at DataPrep, Singapore, which had a large facility for maintenance of various computer systems. When DataPrep faced a critical task of repairing large volume of IBM PC Mother Boards, Sabapathi developed his first ATE, an emulator based system with a guided probe technique to trace faults in PC Mother Boards down to component level just in minutes. He transformed his expertiese in Manual Troubleshooting into an Automated Test System. Robert Ng , an engineering graduate with Honours from Sheffield University, UK, started his career as R&D Engineer in Applied Research Center, a Government owned company in Singapore. Later, he switched over to marketing when he joined DataPrep. While in DataPrep, Robert Ng evinced keen interest in Sabapathi's research & development activities and in 1985 both teamed up to form Proteq Technologies Pvt. Ltd in Singapore with the help of other investors. The first product from Proteq, SuperCat, an emulator based Automatic Test Equipment for testing IBM PCs won the Singapore Economic Development Board's grant under product development. The next design the BoardWizard, a general purpose In-Circuit Functional Tester was a grand commercial success. The other developments included a Shorts Locator, Power Supply Tester, a Relay Tester and System 8000 ATE. Proteq was awarded Pioneer Status by the Singapore Economic Development Board for excellence in original product development. Later, when the Company decided to diversify into consumer goods, Sabapathi and Robert Ng who were focussed in the field of test engineering applications set up their own Company Qmax Technologies Pte Ltd. in Singapore. With their vast experience in product development, board repairs and marketing skills these young, bright engineers nurtured Qmax and in a short span of time, made the Company scale great heights to be the leader in the field of PCB repair and testing. Qmax Test Equipments Pvt. Ltd., Chennai was formed as a 100 % EOU in 1993 with focus on R&D, Product Development and Manufacturing Facilities. Qmax Test Technologies Pvt. Ltd. is the marketing wing of the Qmax group in India. It has Regional Sales & Support offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai. Now, the Qmax Group comprises Qmax Technologies Pte. Ltd. based in Singapore; Qmax Test Equipment Pvt. Ltd. and Qmax Test Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, India. Since its incorporation, Qmax Group has made tremendous progress in the field of Design, Development and Manufacturing of Diagnostic and Repair Test Equipment for electronic PCB testing.
